There lived a monk in another time and place,

who wore a disenchanted look upon his face,
for he noticed all the claps and cheer,
that jesters with no talent got to hear.

The people were entertained by insanely bland things,
but it was music chosen by the iron-fisted king,
so no one dared rocking the royal boat,
by suggesting something with a more energetic note.

The Jealous Monk knew he had a funk so right,
that his performance could rock the night.
The unusual beats hit him hard and fast,
rockin’ his body to late hours last.

Alas, none of the people were ready for his tune,
so the king banished him to certain doom,
they were determined to bury his devilish ways,
ensuring no one would ever hear anything he’d say.

Our hero was then locked in a sorcerer’s spell,
turned to stone and put in a living hell,
for his gift of funky rhythm and beat,
would no longer pierce any ears or tap any feet.

The Jealous Monk was lost for hundreds of years,
all because of simple petty and unfounded fear,
But on this glorious day he has broken free,
to release upon the world his infectious melody.

It is your love for music that holds the key,
to shatter the stone and set him free,
For the new world, he anxiously awaits,
the opportunity to perform and set things straight.
